2011 British Criterium Championship: 30/07/2011
Graham Briggs (Rapha Condor Sharp) win in the 2011 British Circuit Race Champion is a very popular one.
Briggsy was part of a 6 man break that was joined by Dean Downing in a very impressive chase to fight out the 2011 title. Ian “superman” Wilkinson had to cover a livingly Dean Downing in the final laps which set up Briggs to use his powerful sprint in the dash to the line to become the 2011 British Champ.
Because of his teams (Rapha Condor Sharp) aggressive race tactics in all criterium events, Briggsy (with his speedy finish) is often left controlling the chase in the big UK circuit events. His acceptance to unselfishly work for the team in so many other events, adding further to the excitement and popularity of his win. Congratulations Briggsy!!

2011 Jayco Bay Classic: 02/01/2011
HTC Highroad’s Mark Renshaw to lead the O2 Networks team in the 2011 Jayco Bay Cycling Classic:
Two times winner Mark Renshaw will be backed by a strong O2 Networks team, when he attempts to win his third Jayco Bay Cycling Classic. The team consists of 2 times Bay Classic Sprint Classification winner Dean Windsor, Current National Championship runner up David Kemp, double stage winner from the recent NSW International GP Tom Palmer and Dutch Skil Shimano rider Koen de Kort.
Renshaw won the Bay Classic in 2008 and 2007, and after a second placing in stage 1 of this year’s Tour de France plus a stage win in the Tour Denmark, will start the 2011 Classic as one of the favourites. The Bathurst ride expecting big things from his O2 Networks team whom have plenty of Bay Classic experience.
Koen de Kort (Skil Shimano) - Stage winner in the Tour de L'avenir, Kort has rode with Astana before settling at Skil Shimano and showed plenty of Power in last year’s Jayco Bay Cycling Classic where he also rode with the O2 Networks team.
Tom Palmer (Drapac Racing) – The former World junior champion looks to be coming into the Bay Classic with great form after finishing third overall in the recent NSW International Grand prix of Cycling. That coming on the back of an excellent wins in the Japan Cup Crit and at the Tour of Okinawa.
Dean Windsor (Rapha Condor Sharp) – A stage and Jersey winner at the Bay Classic, Windsor has grown up with Renshaw in Bathurst. After starting the year with a silver medal at the National Criterium Championships, Windsor finished on the podium in Asia before wins in the Tour Series, and British Circuit Series.
David Kemp who is in the process of moving from Fly V Australia to a Belgian Pro Continental team in 2011, has ridden an emotional roller coaster in 2010. Starting the season on a real high finishing second in the National Championship behind Trav Meyer in Ballarat; the Queensland has had to finish the year with the collapse of his Pegasus Team.

2010 Newport Nocturne: 04/09/10
Dean Windsor had his last start in Britain on the weekend and was only centimetres away from another win, when Endura Racing top rider Ian Wilkinson hung on to defeat the Bathurst rider in the 2010 Newport Nocturne in Shropshire. Third in the race going to Jonny McEvoy (Motorpoint Marshals Pasta) after the trio sprinted it out after breaking clear of the impressive field.
The Newport Nocturne is one of the more prestigious on the elite British circuit race scene with thousands of spectators lining the streets. Windsor disappointed not to finish the season with a win, given the closeness of the finish...  more

Preston City Centre Grand Prix: 08/08/10 Final Rd British Elite Circuit Race series
Certainly plenty of action in the final round of the 2010 British Cycling Elite Circuit race series on the weekend, with a race developing inside the race as Ian Wilkinson Endura Racing and Dean Downing Rapha Condor Sharp battled int out for the 2010 series.
The race itself was a mighty battle as one of England’s favourite sons  Kristian House, (Rapha Condor Sharp) defeated a number of overseas challenges including team mate and break away partner Dean Windsor (Australia - Rapha Condor Sharp) who finished runner up to the former British Champ. Third going to Dutchman Jeroen Janssen, (Kuota),  in front of Frenchman  Alex Blain, (Endura Racing) and series winner Ian Wilkinson.
The Wilkinson and Downing battle going right to the finish with Wilkinson looking like he was out of contention at one point, as Downing and his Rapha Condor Sharp team applied the screws. However with the help of his Endura Racing racing team Wilkinson fought back to seal victory with a great finishing burst to finish 5th on the night.
Meanwhile Dean Windsor’s second on the weekend in the  Preston Elite Circuit Grand prix has seen the Bathurst Criterium rider come from the clouds to finish 3rd in the 2010 British Elite circuit Race Series for 2010. 14th Tour of Japan, UCI 2.2. - 16th May to 23rd May 2010:
This 7 stage UCI 2.2 Tour always draws an excellent international field. Last year Spanish rider Bellon Sergio Pardilla won while Cameron Meyer leads a list of impressive Australian performances winning the tour in 2008. This year Jayco Skins Australian team will return as one of the high profile team with Micheal Matthews expected to be a major contender particularly in the early stages where the powerful Australian is expected to be suited. Other high profile teams include British champions Kristian House team Rapha Condor Sharp and Italian team De Rosa – Stac Plastic who just performed very well in the president’s Turkey Tour.
The Tour is based around the Tokyo and the regions to the west of the capital, details of the stage as follows:-
Stage 1 Sakai, prologue - Stage 1 is a 2.5km Prologue around Daisen park in central Sakai City, Osaka. The area is a spot to relax in busy Sakai with approximately 400 cherry Blossom tree in the Daisen parkland, the course is flat and fast and will suit the powerful riders.
Stage 2 Nara 120km - Stage 2 is east of Nara City and is 12laps of the 10km circuit around a dam near the Yamabe Distrist. The circuit pretty much follows the water level around the dam and therefore is relatively flat considering the terrain around the course. The circuit does drop to its lowest point at the northern tip of the circuit after pasting the dam wall and crossing the river, resulting in gradual climbing up to the start finish area.
Stage 3, Mino 160km - Stage 3 consists of 8 times around a 21km circuit in the Mino City region which is famous for its paper making (dating back to the 1300’s), the stage actually finishing at the Mino “Washi Paper” Museum. The first lap of the course is cut short due to the neutral start in the centre of town, while the much of the 21km circuit follows the Nagara River and therefore is relatively flat. There is a climb on the western side of the circuit which cuts across the mountainous regions of Mt Gonqen & Mt Tennou, however the “Oyada Tunnel” lessen its impact on the race.
Stage 4, Minami Shinshu 150km - Stage 4 consists of 12 laps of a 12km circuit finishing at the Matsuo Stadium in city of Iida. The southern end of the circuit features the most signification climb of the tour so far given the distance of the loop. Climbing maybe 150m in elevation in about 1.5 km, the majority of the ascent is contained in approx 800m before turning off the main road at the Miyai Tamehide House. However given the stage is the day before the Mt Fuji Time trial its significance for General Classification is greatly reduced.
Stage 5, Mt Fuji ITT 11.4km - Certainly crunch day for the General Classification contenders. Starting near the Sarahigashifuji Hospital at approx 850m above sea level the TimeTrial climbs to around 2000m above sea level in 11km which should cause a major reshuffle on the General Classification.
Stage 6 Izu - Stage 6 uses a 12km course at the Japanese Keirin School and Cycle Sports centre at Taharano Ono, Izu, Shizuoka. Consisting of 8 laps, the course winding its way around the school, and with the schools parklands on a hill sloping from east down to the south west this stage drags its way over a number of climbs which although not that high in elevation potentially could turn into a tough stage, depending on the state of GC.
Stage 7 Tokyo Circuit - The final stage at Toyko consists of 14laps of a flat 7km circuit in very busy Hibiya City. The teams looking to take control on this fast course that does include a hairpin turn, but looks a fast flat circuit.

Dean Swaps the NAB B2B for Tour of Battenkill. USA - (14.04.2010)
This week in Dean Windsor’s home town of Bathurst, the Rotary Club of Bathurst Daybreak conducted the 2010 NAB B2B Cycling Challenge Weekend, the largest event of its kind in New South Wales if not Australia. Its rapid growth over the last few years pushing excited organisers to drafting up some grand plans for the future, including moving to a NRS or UCI race in the near future.
Last year Windsor won not only the main event “The NAB Blayney to Bathurst” but also the Mt Panorama Criterium, after leaving nothing to chance and bringing a very strong Drapac Porsche team including National champion Peter McDonald to his home town to dominate the weekend.
In a strange twist of fate this year he is preparing for a very similar type of event in America at the same time that the 2010 NAB B2B is on at home.
Now based in England with Rapha Condor Sharp, Windsor and his new team will travel to Cambridge, New York for the 2010 Tour of the Battenkill. Like the Bathurst event, the Americian race has a strong focus on the different levels of cycling in the local community and has rapidly grown to 1,500 registrants in 5 years; it is now billed as the largest one-day race in North American. Called the America's Queen of the Classics, like the NAB B2B race the 2009 B2B, it includes some dirt road which have a significant impact on the race.
The American race however has already moved in the direction that Bathurst organisers are currently investigating, with the 2010 Tour of the Battenkill gaining a place on the UCI calendar, becoming a UCI 1.2 Continental Sanctioned event. Race promoter Dieter Drake already excited about international teams such as Windsor’s Rapha Condor Sharp Squad travelling to his 2010 events, suggesting over 50,000 spectators will watch the now international event

Plenty of Travel for Rapha Condor Sharp –   (4.04.2010).
Dean has had plenty of travel since joining Rapha Condor Sharp, moving between England and Spain for the first couple of weeks before heading to Asia for his first race in March. Since then it was back to England for a race before heading of to Northern Ireland this weekend. Next week it’s off to USA for the Tour of the famous Battenkill Valley in Southern Washington County, before returning to UK for the next round of the Premier Series.

Its has been a cold start to 2010 –   (3.04.2010).
Having not really experienced a winter for a number of years having followed the cycling summer around the world, Dean Windsor is getting a full dose of the cold weather this year with the earlier European start due to signing with Rapha Condor Sharp.
Spain was a shock to the system, and last weeks Tour of Reservoir was a hostile introduction to English racing with bitterly cold winds blasting the course. However Dean’s first trip to North Ireland has certainly seen the extreme conditions continuing with the organisers on the Tour of the North even having to alter the course due to the dangerous weather conditions. Even with the alterations there was over a metre of snow besides the roads.
Northern Ireland was a new experience for the boy from Bathurst Australia commenting that he had never seen that much snow that close to the ocean. We expect Dean is certainly re considering his acclimatisation approach this year, where he spent a couple of weeks on the beach in Noosa just before heading to Europe.

Rapha Condor Sharp top 10 in Northern Ireland –   (2.04.2010).
Bright Irish cycling prospect Philip Lavery ( Cycling Ulster) has won stage 1 of the P&O Tour of the North in Belfast, he defeated Rapha Condor Sharp rider Matt Cronshaw and last year’s winner Martyn Irvine (Planet X).
The 1 mile Prologue was raced on a tough hilly course may even more difficult by the very cold extreme weather condition in Ireland at the moment. Rapha Condor Sharp put in an impressive team performance with 4 riders in the top ten, Cronshaw 2nd placing backed up by Dean Downing in 6th, Ben Greenwood 8th and Australian Dean Windsor in 10th seven seconds behind the winner.
Lavery who finished on the podium in last year’s Irish National U23 Road Championship will take a slender 1 second lead into the 130km second stage of the 4 day tour.

2010 Tour of the North, Northern Ireland –   (2.04.2010 to 5.04.2010).
The 46th “P&O Irish Sea” Tour of the North has drawn a quality field with riders from through out the United Kingdom plus teams from Holland and Belgium to face the starter on Good Friday.
2009 winner Martyn Irvine (Planet-X) returns to again race for the P&O Irish Sea Yellow Jersey, but is expecting very strong competition from Rapha Condor Sharp lead by Dean Downing.
Starting with a prologue in Belfast on Friday (2nd April) the tour consists of 4 days of racing, and is considered the biggest event of its type in Northern Ireland.

Tough day at 2010 Tour of Reservoir –  28 March 2010
Northumbrian Water Tour of the Reservoir, NE. Blanchland, Eng – Rd 1 UK Premier Calendar series
A decisive break in the field at around the 60km point has seen the Rapha Condor Sharp miss the major placings in the 2010 Tour of the Reservoir on the Weekend, (28/03010). Just returning from Taiwan the Rapha Condor Sharp team didn’t ride well in the cold English winds that split the field resulting in a group breaking clear to fight out the final placings in the Premier Calendar event. The tough windy conditions suiting former Mountain Bikers Scott Richardson (Sigma Sport – Specialized) and Ian Wilkinson (Endura Racing) with Richardson  soloing away for a win and Wilkinson defeating Magnus Backteadt mentored Nicolas Gustavsson (Team Sprocket ProCycling) for second. Rapha Condor Sharp’s Australian representative Dean Windsor certainly had an uncomfortable ride in the cold conditions around the Derwent Water reservoir, made worst when he broke his seat in the race.
